FIFA World Cup 2022 looks a bit more stable right now
If you are looking forward to watching Ecuador compete in the Qatar World Cup, you may need to suspend those plans. Although the draw for this year’s World Cup has been finalized, only a few points remain concerning the location of the three national teams competing with questions about the eligibility of the Ecuadorian player. Should it be deemed unfit to play, Chile could target Qatar in its place.
Luke Bosher at The Athletic has more details on what is at stake here. The story of Byron Castillo, who has played for Barcelona S.C. of Ecuador since 2017. Chile recently complained to FIFA, saying Castillo was unfit to play for Ecuador. This is important for two reasons.
The first is that, as Bosher notes, Castillo has played eight Football World Cup qualifiers in Ecuador, the other is that, in 2016, FIFA punished Bolivia for playing the wrong player Nelson Cabrera in a FIFA World Cup qualifier. As part of those penalties, Bolivia’s rivals won 3-0 in the matches that Cabrera played.
If FIFA were to rule in the same way in this case, it could mean that Ecuador will be relegated to fourth place in its qualifying group, and its subordinate party, Peru will be taking its place. In response to a report in The Athletic, FIFA confirmed that it had received a complaint from Colombia, but declined to comment. For more to know about Qatar World Cup tickets Click here.
Qatar has announced the first arrests for counterfeit World Cup counterfeit goods
Qatari authorities said on Tuesday they had arrested five people for marketing counterfeit FIFA World Cup products, as immigrant workers arrived to watch the tournament trophy. The five were arrested by Gulf state cybercrime police for promoting the sale of clothing for the Qatar World Cup 2022 without obtaining FIFA approval, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

Thousands of migrant workers hired to build stadiums and associated infrastructure have also completed the final day of a five-day tour of the Qatar World Cup in the host country. But many were turned away before they could take a photo of themselves weighing six pounds 6 kg of gold stored inside a sealed glass box. Elizabeth Ochieng, who works at the Kenya office, said she lined up for three hours in the Doha district on Monday and could not get close to the trophy.
Tonight I was the only 10th person to return to the top when they closed it, he said. It is very disappointing.
