The Minister confirmed that the development of the workforce has come in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, and the planning of the FIFA World Cup 2022 has been a key factor in accelerating the development of labor laws. This was noted during a panel discussion organized by the Department of Labor (MoL), entitled ‘Qatar’s Labor Transformation:

It was moderated by Max Tunon, head of the ILO Office in Doha, and was attended by European and African labor ministers, ambassadors, and employer’s representatives, in addition to workers’ representatives. Participants in the conference congratulated the significant changes made by Qatar in the labor sector over the years, stressing that Qatar denied all allegations made against it during a vicious campaign aimed at those reforms.
The minister explained that the outstanding cooperation between Qatar and the International Labor Organization, as well as many other international organizations, over the years has been instrumental in improving the workplace and business environment in Qatar.
He noted that the technical cooperation agreement signed by Qatar and the ILO in 2017 provided significant impetus for strengthening that relationship. Dr al-Marri said Qatar has hosted, over the years, hundreds of delegates from international trade unions to get them acquainted with the realities of the business environment.
He commended the role played by the delegates in spreading the truth to the world.
